There are many different types of bedrooms, each with its own unique character and charm. Bedrooms can be small or large depending on your preferences, and can be decorated in any number of ways from contemporary style to country, traditional styles, modern, transitional, vintage, and even artsy. There are a lot of factors that go into choosing the right type of bedroom for you; here we will look at some of them.
The number of beds in a bedroom will determine its size. Beds are available in twin, full, queen, king, and California king sizes, as well as a combination of these. Depending on how many people share your bedroom, and what type of furniture you have, the size you get will also dictate other aspects of the room such as where the bed will be placed and whether there will be storage in the bedroom. Some beds can be quite small, others very large, but most will fall somewhere between.
You can have children or not children in your bedroom. This is determined by how many rooms in your house has. If there are three bedrooms, then you can have a child or two in each room, or none in the main room, or one room and no children in it at all. The latter option is obviously the most desirable one, and probably the only one that are feasible in certain circumstances such as estate homes and large dormitories. However, you can't lock someone in a child's bedroom if they want to come out and play!
Another factor to consider is the number of trundle beds. Trundle beds are very popular nowadays and are ideal for any age group. A two bed trundle is very common for younger children, consisting of a twin on top and a twin on the bottom. A four bed trundle is also a popular choice, consisting of a twin on top and a twin on the bottom. These tend to be slightly larger than a two or three bed version, but are ideal for larger rooms where space is at a premium.
Next you need to think about double beds. These can either be single, with two occupants or a double, with one occupant. Again these differ according to the size of the bedroom and can even be placed in other rooms if you have the space. You may find a studio type in a family home, consisting of two beds. In this case a double would probably be more appropriate and would probably be suitable for most situations.
Of course the most traditional type of bedroom is one large bed. This is perfectly suited for a child or older teenager. You can have one large bed in the main bedroom, one in each of the guest bedrooms and one in the children's bedroom. This makes it easy to keep an eye on who is sleeping in each of the children's rooms, which is important if you have younger children.
Of course there are also corner beds. Corner beds are not widely used anymore, but they are often found in older homes. Often these are located against a wall, but there can be some variations, such as having a corner bed in a hallway or near a door. In this way you can use them to add extra storage space without having to make a change to a wall.
How many types of bedrooms are there? It all comes down to the situation you have. Wall to wall beds are ideal in a master suite or other large room. They are also perfect in smaller rooms that do not have a lot of room to spread out. If you choose a corner bed, you should plan on using wall space effectively. In most cases, a corner bed will add on to your floor area and take up no extra floor space.
