The New Pink Kitchen is Not What You’d Expect

by Rick Anderson

The color pink is enjoying a bit of a renaissance right now, and I, for one, could not be more excited about the return of the pink kitchen. For some, the thought of a pink kitchen might conjure up images of Barbie, or one of those candy-colored spaces from the fifties, but the new pink kitchen is something a little different. These rooms use subdued shades and unexpected materials to create a look that’s unexpectedly sophisticated. If you love the idea of a pink kitchen, then this roundup’s for you. If you don’t, take a look anyway — you might be surprised.

Spotted on Sight Unseen , this pink kitchen from Moscow-based Crosby Studios looks extra sophisticated thanks to deep black walls and minimal detailing.

A glossy, pale pink subway tile makes this kitchen from Historias de Casa anything but ordinary. Some other notable features: the gold faucet and floating cabinets.

This kitchen, from Dialect via Miss Moss , features soft pink cabinets and, in an unexpected touch, a pink terrazzo countertop. The white faucet, and mirrored cabinet panels, are also a nice touch.

The plaster walls of this London kitchen, spotted on Cup of Jo , are painted a soft pink, resulting in a beautiful color with an equally lovely texture.

This kitchen from Cote Maison works what is currently one of my favorite color combos: dusty pink and hunter green .

Ok, so this isn’t a new pink kitchen, per se, but it was too good not to include. Famed Mexican architect Luis Barragán created this pink kitchen, covered in what looks like pink zellige tiles, for the pink-hued Casa Pedregal .

From Preciously Me , a kitchen with dark cabinets, and backsplash tile in the palest pink. I think I’m in love.

Here’s one final pink kitchen, from Idealista , with a soft pink painted backsplash and painted pink shelves — a look that’s as budget-friendly as it is beautiful.
